Jiva Unveils Sustainable Power Unit with Nexperia, Ligna Energy + Epishine

As Electronica 2024 in Munich earlier this month, Jiva was incredibly proud to unveil the Sustainable Power Unit, a cutting-edge solution that harnesses ambient energy to power low-energy electronics.
By integrating groundbreaking technologies from industry leaders including Nexperia, Ligna Energy and Epishine, the project marked a significant leap forward in reducing the environmental impact of electronics.
At the heart of the Sustainable Power Unit is energy harvesting technology, powered by Nexperia’s NEH2000BY Power Management IC, which collects ambient energy, such as light, and stores it in a bio-based supercapacitor from Ligna Energy.
This sustainable supercapacitor is made from bio-organic materials, free from toxic chemicals and metals such as lithium. The unit powers a humidity and temperature sensor that transmits data via Bluetooth, all while eliminating the need for traditional batteries.
The Sustainable Power Unit is fully recyclable, with Jiva’s Soluboard® PCB serving as the base of the unit. Soluboard® is the world’s first fully recyclable printed circuit board substrate, offering a 67% reduction in carbon footprint compared to conventional PCBs.
